the Chicago diaries day 5

Between my destroyed feet and waking up at brunch time, Tuesday became a ditch day.  So Elliot and I went to Quartino because it was significantly less busy during lunch on a Tuesday than dinner on a Friday - go figure.  Lunch special for $25 for two?  Yes, please.
We got three decent sized plates of Angus beef carpaccio, Tuscan sausage risotto, and veal osso buco to share.  I was so happy.
Look at that bread display.  Makes me so happy.
Taleggio with apricot puree and raisin walnut bread... for dessert basically.  More happiness.
The only thing I want to do after meals like this is nap; the only thing I shouldn't do after meals like this is nap.  So we faced the heat and walked around Chicago (before going back to nap anyways) and speculated on what it would be like to live or work in the Trump tower.  One thing everyone liked to mention was how cool it was that the buildings represented a range of time periods (points to Chicago).

We rounded off our trip by heading to Lao Sze Chuan in Chinatown for dinner, where all I really wanted was Fuqi Feipian and rice.  You know those compilations of funny Chinese to English translations that don't make any sense?  Have you seen the translation of "husband and wife lung slices" on restaurant menus?  Yes, that is the direct translation of what this is.  It's really just thinly sliced beef and beef offal, and it's delicious, and it's probably not for the unadventurous eater or the faint of heart (for spicy foods... does that make sense?).
Passed by this candy shoppe after a short walk to explore the rest of the newer part of Chinatown (I'm still unclear as to where we actually were.  Bus 62 - that's how we got there).
Munchies paradise, indeed.
