a week of perilla and scallions

Have you ever seen anything more beautiful?
I will never get tired of mountains.
I convinced Em and Deb to escape to the mountains (via 13hr drive each way) with me for one wfh week where we met a bear celebrity and her four babies, slept in bunk beds like children, did not meet a moose and her babies, inadvertently all packed oversized red pj shirts, wondered how big Kim and Kanye's property is, tested our robustness against cold windy weather, and caught the grand tits from every angle.

Majestic mountain sunsets. That we froze to death for.

Bye mountains.

Okay, the meals.
We all threw any and all perishables into coolers and lugged them up with us to the lodge, which resulted in basically Amelia putting perilla leaves and scallions on ev-ry-thing.
Gunned it straight to the lodge on the first night to have ramen that looked restaurant-worthy enough for Joyce to ask if we got it at a restaurant. It's the perilla and scallion garnish lol. Over Shin ramen with kimchi and mozz.
Not pictured: Debbie's mama's fried rice leftovers soaked in leftover ramen broth.

Breakfast the next day was sleeping in and seasonal pastries (giant ass apple croissant and maple nut scone) and pretty bottles of kombucha from Persephone Bakery, just a quick walk away from the lodge.
...And a quick walk back to the lodge after seeing the many maskless people dining side by side and indoors.

Dinner #2 was Pinky G's pizza with spicy sausage, buffalo mozz, fresh basil, and balsamic glaze. Let me just say that 12in is not as big as you think it is.

Dinner #3 was tacos and these al pastor fries from Streetfood @the Stagecoach. I honestly have no bad words for loaded fries. Fries are truly my only unconditional love. But it wouldn't matter because these fries were the perfect ratio of crisp and potato-y.

We got these fat Boar's Head sandwiches at the local Albertson's, good for two lunches to break up our long hike days. I was basically eating them in a Microsoft screen saver. I was dropped back in Patagonia as soon as I pulled my chicken + avo + cheese + tomato + onion + lettuce sammich out of my bag. It was basically a year ago that I was munching on one such sammich while enjoying some majestic mountains against wind that could knock me over. Krissy said I looked so happy, and I can confirm, it's probs been awhile since I've been this happy.

Send off and much awaited dinner #5 was a combo platter from Bubba's BBQ. Brisket, the most tender ribs, mac and cheese, and fried okra to share because we all still had various hodge podge leftovers.
Currently salivating, thirsting, and lusting for a bowl of hot mac and cheese right now...

Not pictured:
-a bucket of fried rice with giant spears of broccoli, kimchi, ultimately nine eggs, jalepeno, hoison sauce packet, mozz, and you guessed it, perilla and scallions
-scrambled eggs with my experimental margarita pizza bar that was too crumbly to be a proper bar
-Amelia's thicc carne asade quesadilla and Emily's al pastor + fish tacos from Streetfood @the Stagecoach
-Dinner #4 of Wild West bison burger and loaded sidewinder fries from Liberty Burger
-Em's fruit collection
-Wyoming beers
-scrambled eggs with all of our leftovers... like literally, a bite of mac and cheese, a bite of fried okra, a piece of brisket, fish and al pastor from tacos .... more perilla and scallions, topped with assorted salsas
