heat wave

Hi, I would like to go back to three nights ago when I was camped out by a lake in the mountains, shivering under the Milky Way. Because I am a total baby when it comes to heat. Like cry 'til I nap, nap 'til I cry with lots of whining and chugging of ice water in between.
The last thing I truly want to do in these temperatures is cook. But alas I'm on another cake schedule and need the oven, so might as well throw a frozen corndog (or two) in there for some summery carnival food vibes.
With homemade roasted red pepper tomato harissa jam and store bought mustard. More fay elberta peaches with more toasted lemon meringue. And a glass of Annie's ginger lemon alcoholic kombucha.
I am a child. But not so much of a child that I really tried to make sure my plate of food didn't look like a penis.

A couple weekends ago, I finally caught up with Christy over an almost-thwarted peach picking session. Apparently, it's about the end of peach picking around here. Well, we found a orchard, and then we found a little farmer's market stand where I impulse bought a few things all for $7! (Still mourning not getting a bag of sweet corn though.) I binge-ate almost all of it in a couple days. With minimal cooking activity.

1. giant bowl of yellow watermelon with lots of tajin

2. roasted russian roulette shishito peppers with parm

3. not a farmer's market haul (ty Debbie) buttermilk ranch potatoes made with boiled potatoes, roasted onion, buttermilk, ranch seasoning from Costco ...tossed together after one too many alarmingly spicy shishitos

4. surprisingly delicious peach and tomatillo salsa
5 roasted tomatillos
1/2 a roasted peach
lots of slices pickled jalepenos
1/2 a roasted onion
several springs cilantro
salt n pepper
lots of olive oil
-blend it all together, adding water as needed
-basically drink it with a side of tortilla chips

5. still to be consumed are the remaining tomatillos, several more peaches, and anaheim peppers

Sigh, still mourning the corn.
