remember September?

The cute little snowflake icons on my weather app aren't so cute when it means I'm going to have to break out the heavy winter gear.  I keep telling myself I'd rather trudge to Babcock in three feet of snow than be reduced to a puddle of sweat in 85 degree weather.  It's only kind of working.
You know what I haven't done often enough while being here?  Brunch.  It's because I no longer have Laura (and food points) to drag me to WaDuke when we finally roll out of bed on Saturdays.
But now that Nancy is finally making the loooooooong journey from Chicago to Madison, there's no excuse to miss brunch this weekend.
The only place I've checked off my list: Marigold Kitchen.  I caught up with Jimmy my first weekend in Madison over blueberry pancakes with a pat of fragrant orange almond butter and a gingery iced tea.
This is probably the first time I've overcome the urge to order some sort of egg dish for breakfast/brunch.  Sweet wins over savory this time.  And no regrets.  The pancakes were as fluffy as pancakes should be and fresh blueberries are always a plus, but I think the butter that slowly melted off the pancake won over all my tastebuds.
Meanwhile, I'm supposed to be studying, but the fact that Thanksgiving is almost here is making it very difficult for me to focus.  I didn't think I'd be ready to go home so soon, but I can't wait to be there, sprawled out on our new couch binge watching DVR'd shows with my puppy at my feet and the fully stocked fridge just steps away.  Oh man, I'm excited.
Challenge: no grocery shopping under after break...though I run the risk of becoming dangerously deficient in.. something.  I feel like I haven't eaten vegetables/fruits in weeks.
