macncheese masterpiece

Our girl Krissy is almost free. V delayed MCAT down, everything else to go, but in the mean time, we celebrate by eating much cheese and drinking much wine.
On my growing catalog of IG inspo, Elana is one of my go-tos. Well, I'd been thinking about her mac and cheese cake since April Fool's Day when I knew I'd have to eventually recreate for Krissy.

Complete with anatomical heart. And.... idk, fire? *shrugs* I had extra tomato frosting.
(By the way, a "naked frosted" mac and cheese cake kind of looks like tempeh..)

Mac and cheese with gouda, gruyere, and mozz "cake" rounds.
Filled with peas, caramelized onions, and braised pork belly pieces.
Frosted with sugarless ermine frosting, flavored with white cheddar mac and cheese packet. Colored with toasted tomato paste... and then colored with red and blue food coloring when it was ambiguous what my orange blobby heart actually was.

After literal months of not seeing these faces in real life, several hours of lounging and snacking on spicy guacamole and tapenade with babbling brook waterfall sounds in the bg and Bailey testing the extent of his last two brain cells and questionably chronically accurate stories brought tears to all of our eyes.

By the way, leftover macaroni and leftover cheese frosting went into this mac... breakfast... bake. Yeah. That's what we'll call it.

With chunks of leftover spam, red bell pepper, tomato, za'atar, cheese frosting, and one ooey gooey sexy egg.

Eaten while trying to seem productive during my one on one.
