Hmm, I guess I didn't do much today besides eating a sweet bread for breakfast and caring for bread and eating some sour bread for lunch and shaping bread and eating savory bread for dinner and generally inhaling the lifeblood that is bread.
Thank god for Joyce's soup to add some vitamins and minerals to my day.
I started this guy yesterday with butter that was still frozen. It took a dramatically long time to beat all the butter into the dough...
Brioche recipe adapted from the Artful Baker.
Except....
used the homemade oat milk.
added a tad of starter discard because it was there.
added some corn meal.
Then filled with roasted hatch green chilies (from the freezer reserve) and formed into little braided baskets.
Notes for next time:
-obtain some sort of corn powder for stronger corn flavor in brioche
-obtain melty ooey gooey cheese to mix with hatch filling
Man the number of times I've needed cheese for a recipe.. equals the number of times I've cried internally that I don't have it. I'm truly living like a caveperson.
I literally took a walk... and spent the whole hour thinking about cheese and cheese alternatives. How desperately I wanted to make a grilled cheese with a couple slices of swirly brioche.
I pan-fried it in pork fat and the leftover egg wash instead. Kind of like french toast.
Eaten with a dollop of remaining hatch chilies while learning to properly thread my grandpa's sewing machine.
[Spoiler alert: did not succeed.]
