Joining Alicia and her seven day "eat your heart out" diet... or whatever.
Kick started the week by nursing a faint headache with dried fruits and cooking delectable meats for the family. Proceeded to watch them eat as I munched on apples and grapes.
Oh did I not mention day one is all FRUITS? (except bananas apparently).
Made my brother a bacon wrapped hot dog (after his disappointment that Dos Perros didn't have any left) with pico de gallo which he devoured before I realized he had taken the first bite. Though I'm not one for hot dogs, my mouth watered as I watched the pork on pork brown in the pan.
Got baby brother to eat cilantro. Success kid.
Bought a lovely pork butt from the farmer's market (along with duck eggs and big ass scallions) from Fickle Creek Farms to make some pulled pork because I had been randomly craving some pulled pork...
alas I could not eat it. Fail timing.
Okay well I cheated. Took a small piece. I mean, you have to taste what you make.
So lunch was for Dad: pulled pork with the same pico de gallo and corn off the cob...
and dinner was what I intended to do with the pulled pork in the first place. Dumped it all (fat and juices and meat) over corn bread, which I loaded with the same corn off the cob and Thai basil.
The highlight of my sad pathetic night as I fantasized about the above photograph was half an avocado Alicia brought for me. Straight from the skin with pepper, lime juice, and a bit of salt. Mmm, simple pleasures.
