unhinged pantry experiments

It's always when I come up against a physical life change that I need to re-resolve to declutter my pantry.
You'd be proud to know that I released my inner delusions and threw away several bags of very old, very unused things to start.
You'd be less proud to see the state of my tiny bedroom with various boxes and bags of pantry items strewn about. Now that I'm back in a shared house... do we think I can consolidate all my food items into my designated kitchen space?? Lets find out.
And the only way I know how to keep myself somewhat accountable is to blog about it into the internet void.

ChatGPT is slowly becoming my friend. Mostly just to bounce food pairing ideas off of. Or I used to use a website that would generate meal ideas based on what ingredient you input... ChatGPT does that for me now too. I maintain that most of my favorite ideas come from these times of limitation and desperation, but it's nice to have Chat on my side.

So anyways, we started the brainstorming with the 1/3 bag of almond flour that I had exclusively used for cakes. But how do I turn it into a savory dinner?

Selected pantry items of the evening:
almond flour
ras el hanout
parsley
tinned tuna

accessories:
olives
preserved lime
tomatoes
onion
carrot

We landed on an almond flour crust/flatbread thing. Bound together with some oil, an egg, and roughly diced carrots; seasoned with ras al hanout and dried parsley. Topped with a quick "sauce" of onion and tomato and more ras al hanout. Preserved limes and chunked up olives for briny acidity, and one can of spicy tuna with all its juices for protein.

It didn't quite hold together under the weight of all the stuff I piled on it. But honestly.. it was pretty good. And filling.
