SLC - eating on the go part 2

I didn't really look up what to eat in SLC before going, but I'll admit my hopes were not high. I expected to eat a lot of heavy greasy type meals. And then I expected to counter them by shivering in the snow. Then I randomly came upon Arempas.
Went in for an arepa, came out with a cachapa. A sweet corn pancake that is sandwiched with cheese with a side of fried pork. I got a side of plantains because... well, they're plantains. And they came with lots of sauces (garlic, avo, some orange pink mayo based guy)... and parmesan? Dunno, but I enjoyed it. Friends, this was a good meal.

Washed down with this molasses-y non alcoholic malt beverage that I've never seen before.
Listened to two white dudes discovering god behind me, as I started eating at the counter. They immensely enjoyed the avocado sauce and had never had plantains or Venezuelan food in general. It was so wholesome, I had to turn around to sideways smile at them while the waiter offered them a spicy sauce. Except wait, how come I wasn't offered this spicy sauce?

I found Arempas because it was close to the public library, which was supposedly a nice place to visit. Most of it was closed off for covid reasons, but the atrium was still beautiful from down here.

* * *

Too antsy to do any work but not enough time to really go out and enjoy the morning? My Airbnb host said I could easily hike the Living Room trail before lunch time, so I did. Slowly trudged up the mountain while practicing out loud the parts I could remember of my presentation. Good thing I was all alone on this trail or I would've been spilling secrets.
Honestly, there's something kind of therapeutic about talking out loud to yourself. It only becomes crazy once another party is around to hear you, but at this mountain overlook where there were some stones stacked to look like living room couches, it was nice to breathe in cold crisp air and breath out... some of my random ramblings that warrant no response.

I made it back before my lunch of leftovers.
