festival time

Don't you love it when you happen to be somewhere during some city-wide event?
I was in Gothenburg during Way Out West, but I didn't really envy the crowds sitting around in wet grass nor did I have tickets. I couldn't help but walk through Malmofestivalen though.. because it was sprawling throughout what I determined was their downtown.

In a fit of starvation and some rejuvenation, I dashed out of my hotel room in search of Nordic Street Food. I'm not even sure how or why they came to be lodged at the front of my brain. But I knew I needed it, as I wove through a circle of food stands, grill smoke and fry smoke clinging to me in the heat.
I finally found it just as I was beginning to lose hope. Not even being dramatic. I almost lost hope. Was getting ready to reevaluate what else I wanted to eat when I saw their wonderful white cart when my weakly stroll became a brisk walk.
There two cone flatbread wrap options featuring seasonal ingredients:
högrevsklämma - Långkokt svensk högrev, skånsk senapskräm, syrlig vitkål, inlagd rödlök, färsk pepparrot och tunnbröd från Jämtland
kantarellklämma - Smörstekta svenska kantareller, syrlig vitkål, gräddfil, inlagd rödlök, vesterhavsost, libbsticka och tunnbröd från Jämtland
Steak with mustard cream, sour cabbage, pickled red onions, fresh horseradish or butter fried chanterelles with sour cabbage, pickled red onion, sour cream, lovage. Couldn't make a decision until it was my turn and immediately saw that you can get a sample of each for $7. If I went back, I'd get a cone of chanterelles.
P.S. I found my food truck. Pretty sure it belongs to me.
Real life dollhouse
I had my heart set on Bastard. But weekend and weird hours struck again. So back around the festival booths I go. In search of something with fish. Came out with light and crispy fish and mango salsa/sauce/salad tacos that I savored at a picnic table in the shade.

In the spirit of (considering) reconnecting, it was vicariously nostalgic to have dinner with my dad's college friend and her kids. At Vapiano Emporia so I could see the majestic commercialism encased in colorful architecture. I polished off a pretty plate of carpaccio and fig and goat cheese pizza while making fun of American eating habits. With no shame.
