colors - more love for fall

Devil's Lake - pc Julia and Luis
Fall is freaking gorgeous.  This cannot be emphasized enough.  We took advantage of this absurdly perfect late October weather by hiking up a mountain (climbing up slippery rocks) at Devil's Lake where the view just kept getting better, reminding myself why I do indeed like to challenge my fear of heights from time to time.  Puppies everywhere.  Children off-roading and more fierce than us.  Much knowledge from Maddy.  The colors of the trees reminded me of the Israeli couscous I made this past summer.
Sauteed red onions, red peppers, carrots, and radishes.
Tossed with warm couscous and thawed green peas.
Seasoned with soy sauce, sesame oil, and a tiny bit of rice vinegar.
Bianca and Garrett (sp?) treated us to burgers and brats over a bonfire at Picnic Point.  Which became my second dinner (after my first fattening time at Culver's).  We sat around (after a round of s'mores, of course) poking at the fire, burning leaves, and making charcoal drawings with our s'mores sticks until the sun went down.
The theme of the day was "making friends."
