as southern as sweet potatoes and pork

The ambiance is classy.  dress up, bitches!

"Hi, yes, I'd like to change my reservation to 12 people."
"Okay, for large parties, we only print one check, is that okay?"
"Yeah."
"And is your party okay with a flight of stairs?"
"A flight of stairs?"
"Yeah."
"...Yeah...that's fine."

And of course Miss Laura and I were the only ones who ordered off the Restaurant Week menu.  This is why we're friends.

Bourbon-spiked sweet potato bisque
pulled pork shoulder, pickled peppers

Don't be fooled.  This bowl of soup was actually ten times smaller than it appears in this picture.
"That's like one bite."
"Are you sure you can finish that there?"

But it was one deliciously gimmemoreeee bite.

Bernard's sweet tea glazed salmon because he panicked (and I recommended it).
Looks so beautiful.

My Sweet potato glazed pork belly
braised collards, sweet potato grits, duck fat sweet potatoes

Not what I expected at all (because I was thinking the orange sweet potatoes) but totally and completely satisfied.  Fatty and crispy and tender and flavorful.  Why do I want/need a boyfriend again?

Oh, I guess to enjoy this kind of wonderfulness with...
Okay, sorry, I'm over it.

Laura's Korean BBQ'd pork shoulder
blue cheese grit cake, confit tomatoes, crispy jowl bacon

Pork fat funnel cake
buttermilk cake, Pepsi-apple ice cream, candied pork jowl, cherry Pepsi syrup

Not my favorite.  Dessert definitely disappointed.
Whatever, I was full anyways.

Not as disappointing as Laura's Sweet potato twinkie
sweet potato butter cream, praline brittle, sweet potato ice cream

Can we just agree that it looks like a slug?
And it was lacking the ice cream, such confusion for a couple moments.

"I just picture you as a sexual creature."
Thanks Laura.
