Note to self to not try to go for a run for the first time in over a year when your stomach is mostly empty. Apparently this lunch of noodles in duck braise with carrots and snow peas was not enough to sustain me through the day.
Despite the burning car on 880N and my quick return to jogging, I still had enough sunlight to make a duo of toasts.
Brush some reserve duck fat onto the thicc bebes to toast first.
Post run sweats immediately curbed by a cold bowl of ba bao zhou prepped a few days ago. Eight treasure soup made with a blend of legumes, grains, and dried fruits and lightly sweetened with rock sugar is so simple and so pleasant. This one is pink beans, green lentils, mung bean, pearl barley, lotus seed, peanuts, sticky rice, and dried longan from my pantry finds.
Now we have ricotta + pork floss + everything bagel seasoning + greens. And one five spice tomato jam + scallion bulb to make me feel like a toast influencer.
Gave myself one thing to look forward to when I wake up tomorrow morning.
This is two cups of sticky rice that had been soaking in the duck braising liquid overnight, and it's been layered with various dried things and wrapped with bamboo leaves and steamed for 2hrs for one giant nuo mi fan.
emptied items:
ricotta (though does it count if it's an item I purchased after I started this challenge?)
a bottle of red
