One more round of this dense bebe malt bread became breakfast toasts for more bebe peanut butters. Date cinnamon and coffee sea salt today. And munching on these was the only quiet contemplation I got to myself all day.
The other moment of alone time I got was when everyone else scattered for lunch, and I prepped myself a little lab lunch from some fridge dregs - turns out I'm also high anxiety about fridge food at work.
Fresh pasta from a nixed dish + leftover lemon caper sauce + fried onions + a hit of garlic + one egg to emulsify + crispy onions + parmesan flakes = one momentarily happy Amelia.
Does the disgusting fogginess of my lens convey how chaotic the lab day was?
My hair still smells like smoke, and I've moved on to a round of Schitt's Creek rewatch. We're still slowly packing a few things a little at a time, and really all I want to do is alternate between circus and ceramics and circus and ceramics.
This evening was making Mexican oregano rice to go with what I'm going to call mirepoix mole:
Why? Because all I had were onion and carrot/celery rescued from rotting away in the work fridge. And a few remaining garlic and leek pieces. All that gets sauteed with some adobo peppers and cooked down with canned tomatoes and about 9 cubes of frozen pantry mole. Topped with a very ripe avo from Athena's friend's tree and one of my many chili oil selections.
Washed down with tepache (skins + barley malt powder) from these days cut with ginger lime bubbles.
Meanwhile, I retried these upside down puff pasty things. I remembered to butter the mat this time, so we're moving one step in the right direction.
+ bonus caramel seasalt peanut butter + jam.
emptied items:
rice [will have to survive in scavenging from work]
frozen puff pastry
