Trial and mostly error over here. Most of the time it's decently low stakes as I'm the only one eating my mistakes. Most of the time.
This one didn't land. A tribute to our roadtrip down New Mexico for Philly. Maybe it should've been square. If I told you it's supposed to be pueblos, would that make more sense?
I want to start calling this a signature cake though: peanut butter pretzel cake.
vanilla cake
milk jam filling (that has a pretzel-y taste)
peanut butter cinnamon buttercream
pretzels
The urgency of some withering apples lead to this apple traybake that Jenn raved about. Not a great recipe to cut in half apparently because it ended up being incredibly uneven when I tried to layer the top half over the apple slices. Or I could've been more careful about which pan I baked it in. Anyways, it was deliciously fall. Like coffee cake vibes but bread-ier.
Topped with another experiment - fig custard. That ended up runnier than expected but bursting with fig.
Nothing wrong with these cookies except that they were underbaked in the first pass so I basically brought Nancy and Johannes some mush and baked them a bit longer when I got home.
Chocolate cherry chunk miso cookies, I love you.
Another "signature cake" in the making. Meaning, it's definitely going to be made again with modifications but version one of cake fixings made for a perfectly well balanced breakfast bowl.
Coconut whipped cream.
Toasted rice pastry cream.
Toasted rice and sesame cake crumbs.
Fresh mango.
Stuffed into a Japanese cotton cake for an Asian-y mango sticky rice-y take on strawberry short cake.
By the way, the fragrance of toasted sweet wild rice with a couple makrut leaves rivals that of baking bread.
By the way, is a bag of plantain chips with a bowl of chimichurri dip an appropriate lunch?
