Took a melatonin last night around 20:30 and woke up so refreshed and... restless?
Not that I have much to show for it. It was mostly a leftovers day.
Like a leftover bowl of wild rice topped with leftover furikake and leftover broccoli stems.
Eaten while fuming at the existence of bottled water.
And like leftover mapo tofu dumps with lao gan ma, olive vegetable, and pickled garlic.
Eaten in preparation for a PBS doc about dumplings.

Besides babysitting a new bread baby, I struggled to encase some jam into buttery pastry dough for a take on pineapple cakes from here. And then jankily tried to shape them in aluminum foil molds... lol. Not a fan of how finicky the dough was as you can see by the cracks. But in case you (and by 'you' I mean Future Amelia) wanted to know what won't work:
75g clarified butter that had been infused with sichuan peppercorns
15g sugar
1/4t salt
16g milk powder
15g cornstarch
65g flour
mango rose jammy filling (of canned mangos, sugar, xanthan, rose water)
