I got trapped at work today. It was fine. Minus all the humming and thrumming of the usual lab instrument suspects that perpetually made it sound like someone was coming down the hall. Labs are honestly spooky.
But before work though, I nibbled on an assortment of Joyce's baked goods for breakfast. And I nibbled on some oat bread soaked in olive oil + yummy spice mixture I got from farmer's market volunteering that had hazelnuts and sesame and something citrusy.
During work was a microwaved bean and cheese burrito swimming in hot sauce, a handful of pretzels, and berry lemonade juice pouch inhaled in the darkened office kitchen. No one needs to see a picture of that.
And after work then, I whipped up the quickest easiest meal I could manage because I just wanted to curl up and watch Netflix stat. So I channeled Mandy. One of the reasons why I fell in love with Mandy's intense and wild and genius food brain was her series on the shit she eats when by herself. I relate. I eat a lot of shit when I'm by myself.
Exhibit A.
Like I said, I needed something quick and easy. I needed something instant. And I had one more wedge of instant noodles left. So I grabbed my medium sized fry pan and dumped the leftover red curry powder (from the potato chips, yes I saved the excess...) in it with enough water to cover. I globbed a glob of peanut butter into it and brought it to a simmer. When the powder was dissolved and the pb was mostly dissolved, I globbed in a couple spoonfuls of okonomiyaki sauce from yesterday and stirred that shit in with the vague inkling that it would be good. Honestly, it was good - the peanut butter really bridged that cultural cuisine gap. I tossed in the instant noods with a little bit more water to cook. While that was simmering down again, I tapped my mouth, thinking about what greenery I could add to have a semblance of well roundedness... frozen peas. I always make sure there's a bag of these bebes in the freezer. And washed down with orange juice for that recommended serving of fruit.
Eaten while browsing for something to watch.
