how to be asian

Found us a house that was giving Parasite vibes.

The most perfect day started with waffles at le-TELLee-ay... or L'Atelier if you're normal.
Brussels breakfast waffle, cheesy Brussels waffle with tomato soup, and liege waffle with pear compote and lemon curd. Perfect amount of carb loading to sustain us through the lightest most unbothered stroll around Bloedel Reserve.
I mean... look at this greenery. The stillness. The sunlight.
This zen garden. (Before the children came around and mucked it up much to Ian's dismay.)
This zen seating. Away from the children who mucked everything up.
This uneasy reflection pool.

Not pictured is our otter friend splashing around in one of the lakes. How did you even get here bud?!?! And flowers I identified with my new app.

End game is the same that it is everyday any day - new restaurant experiences.
We stan elevated Asian cuisine.

We also would stan timely reflection on food excursions so that I can actually remember what I filled myself up with. But I can confirm it was definitely joy.
These birria buns give me so many dirty thoughts. So many deep fried, slow braised meat, oily broth related ideas. I will never turn down a pork bun, and I will never turn down a messy taco, so the love child of the two can only be magical.

I don't think these spicy wontons were on our radar until the waiter suggested it. Do I remember what the filling was? Not really. Do I remember wanted to drink the broth? Mmmm yes.

Something about a bloody mary with bone broth and kimchi just spoke to me, and I had to have it though nothing else during the day planted a seed.

Takes on scallion pancakes are another one of those things I can rarely resist. You can visually tell how crispy this thing was.

By the time the bun cha ha noi (pork patties and pork skewers) and duck leg arrived, I was already bursting. But honestly what else was I supposed to do except shove it down. Worth every juicy, tender, fall-off-the-bone bite exploding with savory tangy salty sweetness.
This is why I love Asian food.
