I managed to put together a breakfast 'spread' before some virtual networking.
Tagine toast with pate. And then more pate.
Hojicha Hanamitsu from Hojicha Co.
Is this Cafe Quarantine status yet?
We were given questions before each break out session, and it only served to make me feel panicked about coming up with an answer in the seconds before I had to introduce myself. So all my answers sucked.
What is currently your favorite snack?
Honestly, what isn't my favorite snack? Don't we lust after things we don't/can't have? And I don't have any of it at home. I went with Goldfish though because I recently made them.
What kitchen tool would you describe yourself as?
The first utensil that came to mind was a whisk. Because it creates fluff and air and lightness. But that seems... not positive in personality terms... nor true, as you can't really offer much lightness when you have incredibly morbid humor. So maybe...a fridge because I'm cold and I preserve memories for deep bouts of nostalgia down the line?
What is a favorite recipe you've tried recently?
So many. Seriously. Please refer back to days 1-52.
Who is one person, dead or alive, you would like to have dinner with?
Mom, hands down.
Instead I said "How can you choose? There are so many great cookbook authors." Which isn't untrue, but I wasn't trying to get into it at a 6min networking event. But then the French food stylist in Seattle said she'd currently like to dine with her mother who was in France because "Who knows when I'll get to see her next?" I'm not crying - you're crying.
What is your favorite childhood food?
Braised pork belly. Convenient that the guy I was paired with for this one said his mom's oxtail.
What classic food do you wish you invented?
I get this feeling a lot when I walk down grocery aisles. I especially get this feeling when I see some new 'superfood' packed snack featuring some ~unlocked secret ingredient from the mysterious exotic East.~ My final answer, though, is any kind of roasted chickpea snack. Though I suppose that isn't really a classic food industry item.
Lunch was two kinds of leftover rice. One pictured here with the last of the chrysanthemum greens and this supposed-to-be soft boiled egg that exploded in the water and then got all deranged.
Eaten after whirlwind ricotta experiments over Brooklyn99 reruns.
Dinner was found-in-the-back-of-the-fridge roti scraps plus salmon broth scraps.
