living in the past

About to go back to my favorite city to hate but also love because the fucking food. So let's throw it back to the nearly two years ago when I was last there. Can it really have been that long? What are years anymore? Why did I say "from like two years ago" when referring to a video clip from 2015? Where is my life going and why am I wasting away?
Welcome to my daily existential crisis - guaranteed to surface once if not twice a day. My name is Amelia, and this is just what I do now.

Anyways
My favorite dessert thing was a kiwi ice cream sammich from Dominique Ansel while wondering these city streets. Look how cute. Kiwi fuzzes and everything.

My favorite meat thing was this lamb belly bahn mi from Hometown during my first experience in Brooklyn. I was just tryna get a snack (Texas-style queso mac and cheese cup) before dinner with Jade and somehow ended up with a full meal before my full meal.

My favorite Top Chef All Stars chef to sympathize with is Dale Talde, so naturally wanted to check out Talde which happened to be down the street from my Airbnb. I guess lobster tom kha and bacon pad thai with fried oysters served on Chinese takeout restaurant dishes weren't enough to keep it open. Is it scandal? Is it drama? I didn't care to really dig into all the articles, but I do remember that the food was good but didn't blow me away like I thought it would.

My favorite college experience was living in Melbourne with friends who savored food as much as me. NYC trip usually means an opportunity to reunite with soon-to-be-Mrs. Joelle. I trekked on over to Jersey City, which was actually quite cute, for some crab legs and shramps and cheesy fries with more crab meat on top. But also the name - Just Beclaws? I fucking love it.

My favorite meals are cheap Chinese ones. But that didn't happen because the place was permanently closed and Google had no idea. Womp. I don't even remember what I was looking for at this point. But I did find Selina as confused as I on some darkened street. We found some random cute looking restaurant maybe a couple blocks over. I also don't remember what it was. But I do remember I got the duck because dude, it's duck. And it came with a complementary plate of radishes.

My favorite type of shop.

My favorite breakfast items are carbs. Sweet carbs, gooey carbs, fluffy carbs, savory carbs, flaky carbs, cheesy carbs, I'll take it all. Went with this cheese pesto pepper swirled thing from a little shop by a train station somewhere in Brooklyn.

My favorite garnish is a sexy soft egg if you didn't already know. Nothing is better than one of those in a bowl of ramen. My least favorite thing is crowds and especially crowds in NYC, but I braced it all near Rockefeller to have this bowl of ramen with Laura on her lunch break.

My favorite city tourist attractions are cute coffee shops. Especially the ones with relatable messages.
