Because we're learning about DNA in biochem.
Apologies in advance for the sideways picks... it seems blogger in Australia insists everything be horizontal.
Chorizo appetizer at Cuban place//first lunch stop when we got to NYC, starving, sweaty, and someone was a little grumpy. Slightly regretted not getting a whole plantain dish because we couldn't stop stealing glances at the table next to us. I want Latin food now.
Momofuku Noodle Bar... only took us seventy two thousand hours to find. Nothing quite like walking around the city at night, lethargic and ready to keel over in hunger just to stuff our faces with a hot soupy dish on a grossly suffocating night. It's actually funny how often that happens to me (in variations, of course).
Cereal milk ice cream at Momofuku Milk Bar with blueberries and cream cookie. They loaded that little cup up, and the result was two struggling girls in search of an AC'd environment, leaving a trail of cream droplets. It's kind of impossible for me to have food and not get it all over myself, so true to form, I walked some several blocks with a streak of ice cream down my leg. I guess you could say I'm the epitome of class.
Absolutely ecstatic to be at Morimoto.
Soft shell crab roll with the Duck, duck, duck! (or something like that) dish. The lighting was not camera friendly, but all you need to know is that there was duck breast, duck leg, duck egg, and foie gras for added deliciousness... but probably more fanciness, just-to-write-it-on-the-menuness because there was only a thin layer on the croissant. Still good.
Brunch at Public with Laura's venison burger and my black pudding waffle with foie gras butter (gets me every time) and carmelized pears. So obscure, but so good, so so fucking good. Such a good savory, sweet, kind of strange bittery balance. And it was just beautiful to look at. I'm kind of salivating right now.
Rice pudding shop decorated with humorous, fatass-relatable signs. Casually spent a good half hour reading all of them without buying anything.
Fruity gelato (I don't remember what flavors I got... I think passionfruit was one of them - they're everywhere here btw, it's like paradise) at Amorino. They had the most beautiful picture of half a grapefruit - Alicia and I couldn't stop staring at it.
Xi'an food in tiny shop in Chinatown
near closing time. Dou hua and liang pi - so much noms. One of the
few spicy dishes that actually made me tear up. I call that a
success. And can't forget the hall of fame there.
I would say finally Friday, but the
weeks literally pass by so quickly. I have strange fleeting moments of
thinking about spring semester because it feels like it's tomorrow. I
think I already miss you, Melbourne.
Dumplings tonight! My stomach
can barely contain itself right now.
Wearing the best jeggings in the
world. My legs actually feel less like two pieces of lard.
I want to buy vegemite. Goal:
find other ways to consume besides spreading a 5:1 butter to vegemite ratio on
toast.
Discovered my Sephora lip stain
looks good against all skin colors.
Ingrid Michaelson before break!
